Volunteering: ❥ Okanagan Farm

Challenge: Help repair, restore and maintain a small farm.

Solutions: Get to [hard] work…

I can’t believe how lucky I am to have such a generous friend in my life. His name is Tye, and he and his mother own a beautiful farm just outside of town. One day, I was down on my luck and didn’t have a place to stay, and Tye offered to let me pitch a tent on the farm for as long as I needed.

I was hesitant at first, but Tye and his mother were so kind and welcoming that I couldn’t resist. Over the next year, I worked hard on the farm, learning about agriculture and helping out with chores. Tye’s mother was an amazing cook, and she would often prepare meals for us using fresh ingredients from the farm.

As the months passed, I grew to love the farm and the simple way of life it offered. Tye and his mother became like family to me, and I felt grateful for their generosity and hospitality. Even when times were tough, I knew that I could always count on them to support me and help me through any challenges.

Looking back on that year, I realize how much I learned and grew on the farm. I gained a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the hard work that goes into producing the food we eat. And most importantly, I gained a true friend in Tye, whose kindness and generosity will stay with me forever.

Results: There will always be a special place in my heart for [THE] farm.
